THE REASON OF THE CROSS

In celebration of the Lenten Season, I wanted to make this blog to remind ourselves what is the very reason we celebrate it.

This is not your typical celebration because we are all staying in our homes due to the pandemic of the COVID-19 which literally crippled everything around us.

This month we usually have a parade of people reenacting the SUFFERING AND DEATH of Christ and there as well your typical “PABASA” and the STATIONS OF THE CROSS.

And I come to realised that there are many devoted people who will really “DO IT AGAIN” to feel what Christ have to ENDURE.

(I AM NOT HERE TO OFFEND BUT I’M HERE TO SHED SOME LIGHT AND TRUTH OF THE MATTER :D)

Honestly, we really don’t need to do that.

Jesus Christ was the PERFECT SACRIFICE FOR ALL. Just want to give you a little bit of historical background on the OLD TESTAMENT ON HOW THEY SACRIFICE FOR GOD TO FORGIVE THEIR SINS.

There will be “HANDPICKED” people or we call them HIGH PRIEST who can enter the PRESENCE OF GOD called the HOLY OF HOLIES if we put that right now in our time even I cannot enter it because i will surely die because I AM A SINNER. (Leviticus 16:2)

For the sacrifice, you need an animal that is without blemish or defect  but if it does have one it will not be accepted

“If he brings a lamb as his offering for a sin offering, he shall bring a female without blemish and lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and kill it for a sin offering in the place where they kill the burnt offering. Then the priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering and pour out all the rest of its blood at the base of the altar. . . . And the priest shall make atonement for him for the sin which he has committed, and he shall be forgiven. (Leviticus 4:32—35)

I wanted to point out the word SINNER.

We are human beings that are always proned to sin, I know after all we do the “TRADITIONAL” work that we do during this Lenten Season. We will feel good and saying that IM A GOOD PERSON.

In reality you will still go back to your OLD way of life, because it is not what you do that SAVES YOU BUT IT’S ABOUT WHAT HE DID FOR YOU.

Jesus was nailed on the cross ONCE AND FOR ALL. We don’t need to brag about our works but let’s brag how he can change you.

The Cross is not a symbol that we wear on our necks but it represented the suffering, anguish, agony that Jesus had to go through.

In the Garden of Gethsemane, he was with his disciples

Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go over there and pray.” 37 And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.” 39 And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”

Matthew 26: 36-39 (ESV)

The first time heaven was silent, he took the wrath of God for us. but it was the joy that set before Him that he endured the cross!

Friends, the reason for this Lenten Season its not just about celebrating it with your own family, or watching TV shows that will remind us of  what he did but it’s about the LOVE that HE SHOWED FOR US.

The perfect example of LOVE.

Remember, you don’t need to work for God to accept you because He carried  the cross and at the same time thinking of you.

JESUS LOVES YOU!
